The soulful pop singer died of breast cancer on March 3 at 59. ``She was the very essence of fabness,'' said Neil Tennant of the Pet Shop Boys, who recorded ``What Have I Done to Deserve This?'' with Ms. Springfield in 1987. Costello told the congregation at St. Mary-the-Virgin Church that Ms. Springfield's voice communicated a ``sense of longing that demanded your attention.'' Costello also read a tribute from American composer Burt Bacharach who said: ``You could hear just three notes and you knew it was Dusty. It was such a rare and beautiful voice. I just want to add my thanks for every beautiful note Dusty sang.''
