Elvis Costello and the Imposters

Symphony Hall

The title of his last album The Delivery Man was particularly apt for Elvis Costello.

The hairline is receding and he is definitely in the veteran category, but he is still delivering - and how.

A blistering two hour show in front of a packed house saw Costello run through a variety of musical styles which emphasized his adventurous nature and versatility.

With the three Imposters providing excellent backing, Costello got his show off to a high tempo start which included Country Darkness from the new album.

He dipped into his terrific back catalogue with I Don't Want to go to Chelsea and a superb What a Good Year for the Roses.

The best was saved to almost the last, with Costello sitting among the audience and facing the stage to deliver the superb Alison followed by his take on Suspicious Minds which he sang lying down.
