ELVIS BACKS BUCK
Elvis Costello has jumped to the defence of Peter Buck, after he was
cleared of all charges in his 'air-rage' trail, dotmusic can exclusively
reveal.
Costello, a good friend of Buck's, told us that airlines should stop
serving alcohol on flights, if they want to eliminate the ongoing problem
of mid-air violence.
The REM guitarist was freed on Friday, after a jury at Isleworth Crown
Court found him not guilty of a drunken rampage on a British Airways
flight from Seattle to London last year.
Costello insisted that Buck was a calm man who had apologised following
the fracas, and should not be made an example of.
He cited~footballers and musicians~as continual targets, who are often
castigated for their behaviour, because of their supposed role model
status.
Costello insisted:~"Peter Buck is not a threat to anyone",
claiming the responsibility also lies with the airlines.
"It isn't a good idea to serve alcohol on planes", said Costello.
