"When at home, [Bacharach]'s been collaborating on an album with the second
coolest man in the world, Elvis Costello, with whom he worked on a song for
the movie "Grace of My Heart" last year.

"The two wrote in this sun-filled studio on the Pacific [Bacharach's Santa
Monica home], each poised at one of the five keyboards.  "I met my match as
far as obsessing and songwriting," Mr. Bacharach said.  "Staying up all night
and having it wake you up, trying to make it as perfect as you can make it."
