Review of ATUB - 2 stars Replay, 1996-06-01 by Mr. Michael Corcoran "Elvis Costello's amazingly prolific early period has crowded much of his ho-hum latter-day work, but with this album of scraps written for or with others, plus six new tunes, Costello is finally overwhelmed and rendered obsolete. "Even the Attractions can't make him sound particularly interesting. The new slow songs sound like old slow songs, and most of the fluid wordplay on the mid-tempo numbers seems to pack all the passion and originality of an echo. Maybe you only can get so much juice, and you can either gulp it down or sip it. Elvis Costello drank his so fast that now he can only burp."
