Review of concert from 2002-06-04: Minneapolis, MN; Electric
Fetus in-store performance - Solo
LIVE EVILAt the jam-packed Electric Fetus on Tuesday, Elvis Costello told 400 fans that he'd show them how he wrote the songs on "When I Was Cruel," his new CD. "It's like the evil magician showing you how the tricks are done," he joked. But watching him sing and play guitar accompanied by rhythm machines, you'd have to be a musical detective to decipher how he composed. This wasn't Elvis unplugged, as expected in this rare in-store, but an evil Elvis, plugged in merely to plug his new CD. Earlier Tuesday, he paid a visit to the nearby Minneapolis Institute of Arts, and returned Wednesday with his wife, former Pogue Cait O'Riordan. "We love it here!" she told an MIA worker. (J.B.) |
