Morrison, Costello flow with Guinness

More than 41,000 people crowded into the Polo Fields in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park on Saturday to tipple the dark stout that Arthur Guinness first poured from a barrel in 1759 - and to see more than two dozen of Ireland's most talented musical descendants on three stages. For this opening date of four consecutive Saturday music fests in different cities (Chicago, Boston and New York follow), headliners included Van Morrison, Elvis Costello, Ben Harper and John Lee Hooker. (The last two have never been celebrated for their Irishness, but promoters say they recruit performers who embody the singer/songwriter tradition of the Emerald Isle, or at least have a twinkle in their eyes.)
