VICTORIA -- Did Diana Krall and Elvis Costello get married on the weekend?
Yes indeed, says a Nanaimo man who is a friend and bandmate of Krall's
uncle.
Musician Rick Haug said Randall Krall flew to London to attend the
wedding of Nanaimo jazz superstar Diana Krall and Costello. If Nanaimo's
buzzing rumour mill is to be believed, the pair were married on Saturday.
"He went out to the wedding. Yeah, he went over with his wife,"
said Haug, a bassist who plays with Randall in a Nanaimo band called
Ray and the Rockets.
"He's very excited about it. He's quite close with Diana and visits
often."
Haug said Krall, 39, and musical icon Costello, 49, have purchased
a house in Nanoose on Vancouver Island.
Krall's management company, Sam Feldman and Associates, could not be
reached for comment Sunday afternoon.
Last spring, Jim Krall, the father of the jazz singer/pianist, confirmed
Diana and Costello were engaged. Rumours of the pair's romance began
in January after they were spotted dining together in a New York restaurant.
Last month, Krall and Costello visited the University of Victoria,
where Krall received an honorary doctorate in fine arts.
