BMG's aim is true for Costello

NEW YORK (Variety) - English British singer-songwriter Elvis Costello has inked a multiyear deal with BMG Music Publishing to manage all his future writing efforts, the company announced Tuesday.

Terms of the pact, which goes into effect this spring, weren't disclosed, but a source at BMG said the deal will be in force for ``at least a couple of years,'' with several options for extensions thereafter.

Costello will continue to handle his back catalog of recordings, which includes such classic albums as ``My Aim Is True'' and ``Armed Forces,'' through his current publishing company, Plangent Visions Music.

However, the BMG source said Tuesday's deal may be expanded in the future to include a portion of Costello's past releases as well as his upcoming work.
