Elvis Guests at Springsteen Concert

I was there, and it was incredible...I had heard a rumor early in the day that Costello was going to be present at the show (at least as an audience member), but nothing prepared me for Bruce's pronouncement that "Elvis is in the building". Out walks Costello, in jeans, flannel shirt, and overcoat, to a huge ovation. Up to that moment, the only bigger ovation was for Springsteen. He told a story of playing the Stone Pony (right down the street from the Asbury Park Convention Hall) with the Attractions at the tail end of the '77 tour, and then launched into a tender acoustic version of "Alison"/"Tracks of My Tears"/"Tears of a Clown". As stated here, Bruce sang backing vocals.
