Review of concert from 2002-08-15: Leuven, Belgium; Marktrock Festival - with Imposters
- Joyce Slavik

Man, what a tough day in the heat, sitting on uncomfortable beer soaked cobblestones (no grass for relaxing on at this festival!), paying for toilet privileges, and making our way up to the stage through a very claustrophia inducing crowd. No real surprises in the setlist considering it was a festival (Wouter and I pretty much had it figured out on the drive down from Amsterdam ;-)) but still a fun show because, well, it was Elvis! Speeds of the songs were fast and faster. Really great to meet up with Jessica and, closer to showtime, Istvan. Fun chatting! See you guys in Brussels :-). There were hats on the (apparently) recently sheared Steve and Davey. A nice little "Suspicious Minds" bit during Alison (I actually still love hearing this song). Lots of singing along in the audience. EC leading the crowd in various clapping patterns and call and response bits. Steve's theramin playing was fun to watch; he never got very wild. Also a nice bit of "My Funny Valentine" during WIWC2. Elvis seemed to be much less distracted by his looping toy during WIWC2 than earlier on. During PLU in the encore, Pete kicked it off immediately after the previous song and Elvis looked somewhat surprised for some reason, prompting a laugh from Davey and then from EC. Lovely city but did I mention it was a looong, hot, uncomfortable day? I'm looking forward to some more interesting setlists during the upcoming "proper" shows.
