(Stop me if you've heard this one before...)
OK OK OK
I saw Elvis last night at the Universal Amphitheatre. Before Tuesday I
hadn't a hope in hell of going, but some saint offered the tickets at the
last minute.

Some idiot saint...

I must apoligize. I meant to provide a complete playlist, but in the midst
of the concert I of course didn't have the presence of mind to write it all
down.

So you're gonna have to be surprised.

One of the standouts, for me anyway, was a very heartfelt "Deep Dark Truthful
Mirror". For some reason even though I was in Section 17, which is one level
up from the floor, I kinda felt he wuz talkin' to me...

The show began low-key, with EC bringing out the acoustic git, and the tempo
increased geometrically from there to an all-out non-stop back-to-back romp.
The songs included "Radio, Radio", "Mystery Dance", "Black And White World",
"Fidelity", " Green Shirt", "Strict Time", "Beyond Belief" (which is just
about my favorite EC song, but here somewhat shrouded and dense),
"Temptation", "Watching the Detectives" (very evil!), and of course all the
songs off the new album.

How old is EC again? How in the hell does he do it?

The Attractions were in top form with an emphasis of course on Steve Nieve's
EXCELLENT keyboard.

I had last seen EC on tour with the Brodsky's at UCLA's Royce Hall, which of
course was quite a contrast (that was a concert experience that I will NEVER
forget, gush, gush, gush, and yes I DID sit right behind Jamie Curtis (yah,
who cares)) with a much more intimate feel. EC kept the comments to a
minimum last night, though, only a few obscure references to song sources
that _I_ sure didn't understand. With the Brodsky's he seemed much more
manic, more joyful, but that probably had a lot to do with the material he
was presenting.

And I'm not even gonna talk about the encore(s)...
All in all, well worth your entertainment buck!

(this is my first post here. I've been reading for some time, when I can
keep up with it. I just had to brag...)
