Live At The El Mocambo Reviews
All-Music Guide (J.P. Ollio)
As with many great live albums, this set catches an important artist at his
creative peak. Playing before a rowdy audience at the El Mocambo Club in
Toronto, Elvis and the Attractions bull their way through material from
Costello's first two albums. There are no surprises in the arrangements, but
you do get to hear the Attractions' take on songs from My Aim Is True. Rumour
guitarist Martin Belmont pitches in on the throbbing Pump It Up. Not
as essential as Elvis' early studio records, Live At The El Mocambo is
damned exciting anyway.
