"Jazz tenor saxophonist Charles Lloyd has a new CD out entitled "Voice in the Night" (ECM Records, #1624 in the US), on which he covers "God Give Me Strength" as an instrumental. Backed by guitar, double-bass and drums, Lloyd improvises quite a lot, but the memorable melody line of the tune survives. Elvis is to be a special guest on Virgin radio on the Danny Baker Show, Sunday 1999-04-11, 10:00 BST. Virgin is broadcast in the UK on 1197, 1215 MW, but is also available in stereo from the Astra satellite.
MTV will broadcast a half hour re-run of an "Elvis Costello Unplugged" session.
Elvis was on the UK program The Big Breakfast (Channel 4) on 1999-04-08 from 7-9 am. He chatted with Johnny Vaughn and performed a solo acoustic Pump It Up with the entire crew and audience joining in.
It looks like the German radio concert broadcast on 19 April shall be from the Royal Festival Hall in 1998.
