Interview details: The opportunity for the regular plugs for She, Notting
Hill and Austin Powers. The most amusing and original (to me) story was that in the early
days hotels would not believe he was Elvis Costello when he arrived, and he would be asked
by the receptionist "If you're him, do the funny legs". This led from being
asked if his early leg wobbling antics had made him "knock kneed". He also got
to talk about the recording of Sessions at West 54th with BB, saying they were pretty
pleased with the result, and that they had been rehearsing solidly for a week at that
point with that string section and band, although the recording felt like a lifetime, with
all the technical problems. He thinks he is singing the songs better now than he did on
the BB tour.
Review: Although the segment was 25 minutes, with other stuff there was probably only 7 or 8 minutes of Elvis talking, and it was a quite silly knockabout interview. But a good plugging opportunity for the She single.
