Elvis is King!
Elvis Costello, king of new wave rock 'n' roll, bought his show of intelligent, non-stop rock 'n' roll to the Indiana University Auditorium Sunday March 11th. Elvis rocked intensely despite the relative sedateness of the audience.
Most of Elvis' non-stop rock show consisted of material from his most recent album Armed Forces.
"Accidents will Happen," a major hit, opened the set that was highlighted by "Goon Squad," "Senior Service" and "Oliver's Army." Particularly interesting was a version of "Watching The Detectives."
"Green Shirts" from Armed Forces, was obviously the climatic song of the concert featuring dramatic lighting effects and a very concise but tasty drum solo.
Then Elvis launched into the conclusion of his set that ended with "(What's so Funny About) Peace, Love and Understanding," another hit song from his new album.
After seeing Elvis Costello in concert you realize that he is essentially a live performer.
My only argument with this concert was that it wasn't long enough. The concert was one hour long almost to the minute, and left me starved for more of Elvis Costello's music.
