Elvis Costello to perform in city

Michael Conaghan

Elvis Costello and the Imposters are coming to Londonderry.

They will perform at the Venue in Ebrington on Thursday.

The singer/songwriter, who has penned classic tracks such as Alison and Oliver's Army, has won numerous awards over more than 40 years in music.

He is known for his anti-Thatcher politics and wrote Tramp The Dirt Down folk ballad in 1988 in protest against her policies.

The rocker has played a number of concerts this year, including London's Royal Albert Hall.

Costello began his career as part of London's pub rock scene in the early 1970s and later became associated with the first wave of the British punk movement of the mid-to-late 1970s.
