Elvis Costello

Extract:
...Friday night was a little different story.
Elvis Costello rode into Boston on a highway of hype paved with a lot of record company dollars. The publicity was on a fairly grand scale considering the relative obscurity of Costello, and the music community was expecting a momentous event.
What they received was a disappointing display of high impact, but not too original rock, rooted early in the British invasion of over a decade ago. Costello, a Buddy Holly look-alike, is a very talented guitarist with a keen sense of pop culture and heritage, but he appears to be locked in a time-warp where creativity is concerned. His chord changes often just don't mesh evenly, and sometimes blend into a muddled mix-up.
Elvis Costello let down a number of expectant patrons at the Paradise.
