Bob Dylan and His Band and Elvis Costello will be performing 7 p.m. tonight at John Paul Jones Arena.
The performance is Costello's first solo tour in 12 years.
Dylan is revered for his songwriting. He began in folk music in the 1960s and shifted to rock, gaining a following for powerful lyrics that have been credited with reinventing the singer-songwriter genre. He created controversy in 1966 by including electric guitars, which angered folk purists.
The Grammy Award-winning artist's hits include "Blowin' in the Wind, "The Times They Are A-Changin' and "Love Sick and "Make You Feel My Love.
He won a new generation of fans in the late 1990s with the Grammy-winning Time Out of Mind CD.
Dylan also won an Academy Award and a Golden Globe in 2000 for "Things Have Changed, a song he penned for the soundtrack of "Wonder Boys.
Costello released his first album in 1977 and quickly became an influence on post-punk and new wave music. Also known for his songwriting, he has added elements of country, pop and many other genres to his sound.
Costello's albums include Get Happy!!, Armed Forces, Imperial Bedroom and "Goodbye Cruel World."
He has performed with the Attractions and the Imposters.
He is known for writing in many genres, including jazz, classical and chamber opera. His wife is jazz pianist Diana Krall.
