Elvis Costello

Jerry Brown

The king is dead. Long live the king.

Elvis Costello reaches for the legacy of his namesake. Like the early Elvis Presley, Costello is a young, angry man from an English working class background. His brand of rock and roll is tight, clean, and from all reports, frenzied.

A few tickets are left for Costello's show at the Jubilee Auditorium on Sunday at 8 p.m. But duck if you're in the front rows.

Warm-up act, Toronto's The Wives, were pelted with rotten eggs and ripe tomatoes at a Montreal concert on Tuesday. Women's groups had found the group's name, until last week The Battered Wives offensive.
