"Painted from The Memory" reúne 12 temas

"He aprendido a confiar", afirma Costello.

They were born decades apart stylistically and succeeded in opposing circles, but nearing the end of the millennium in perfect harmony. The new musical partnership, Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach, is, however, a strange marriage. Both are in London, where last night gave the final concert of their current tour to promote the content of their collaboration. A compact disc of twelve songs, The Painted from Memory including God give me strength, the celebrated piece of the soundtrack of Grace of my Heart with they began their journey together.

"There is no young or old, just a teacher and a younger teacher," says the genie of popular music of the sixties. "Yes, and I think you're the young master," jokes the quintessential musical chameleon. Bacharach leads the series with his piano compositions recreates, both live and in the recording, an orchestra of 24 instruments, including those keyboard is Steve Nieve of the Attractions. All work arising from the collaboration of two artists for the past two years.

Costello, the youngest, at age 44, reaches the Royal Festival Hall dressed in a dark suit and protects from the cold autumn with an elegant velvet hat. His stubble on a extremely pale skin complexion contrasts with toasted by the Californian sun of his new friend. In jeans and sweatshirt, body just fragility reveals 70 years of accomplished pianist and composer of blockbuster ballads like I'll never fall in love again or weepies like Alfie.

'Technology'

Technology made possible the first collaboration three years ago. "We had four days to compose God give me strength," recalls Bacharach, "and as we were in different cities, he in Dublin and me in Los Angeles, we write the song by phone and fax." Despite the distance, both musicians interpenetrated as two sides of the same coin. And on the album, which finally prepared under the same roof, the distinctive voice of Costello plans delicately by the set of compositions. "Lyrics are mine, but I think most importantly music. Verses come to discover the exact sense of music," Costello defends. "Yes," continues with energy recalling the structure of work, "we had a musical dialogue. The result is very emotional and intense."

The collaboration opens a novel pathway for the couple. A Costello lets you venture into the world of orchestras, you know since childhood. It's as if closed family circle and began his grandfather to a greater extent, his father, the singer of a big band, the Joe Loss Orchestra. "It's a very different project. My father played in dance halls. Ours has another character," he warns. Bacharach enhances this experience with a profile that is in limelight among young generations since Noel Gallagher of Oasis, accompanied him on one of his performances two years ago.

Both are enthusiastic about their work and trust resume tour from spring. "I've learned to trust," says Costello. "Bacharach has shown me that I do not need to give everything in the first few seconds of a song, but you can build the drama of a story gradually. In rock and roll, the voice competes with the rest of the group. Here I reach new heights that never even starting from a whisper, "he explains. "Yes, it tries to identify the peaks and valleys of a song," says his teacher.
