Delbert in New York

Gerry Barker

Extract:

Fort Worth's Delbert McClinton continues to knock out audiences everywhere he goes.

Currently riding a crest of popularity, he and his Second Wind Band recently played a four-nighter at Big Apple's Lone Star Cafe.

Among those who caught his act were Elvis Costello, who jammed with McClinton at The Old Warehouse in Dallas after Costello's concert there, and Saturday Night Live's John Belushi, who joined him onstage for "Bring It on Home."

Otis Blackwell also came up to duet on "Don't Be Cruel," which Blackwell wrote.

New York's gain is Fort Worth's loss.
