Islands rock fans Get Happy

Dave Edmonds

Get happy! That was the message from Elvis Costello and the Attractions, and a large crowd of rock fans did just that at Beau Sejour on Saturday night.

For nearly 1½ hours, the bespectacled star and his two backing musicians, a drummer and a bassist, had the crowd in ecstasy with a fast moving show.

The group played a number of tracks from their current album, Get Happy, including the latest single, "High Fidelity."

They also played a number of older songs, including the hit singles, "Watching the Detectives," "(I Don't Want to Go to) Chelsea," "Oliver's Army" and "Accidents Will Happen."

As many as 400 fans made the trip from Jersey for the show, which also included an excellent opening set from local group Blue Movies.
