Elvis Costello
Northrop Auditorium
Jon Bream
Extract:
Matt Fink, keyboardist in Prince's band, was at Elvis Costello's sold-out concert at Northrop Auditorium. It was Costello's best show here ever. He seemed less angry, more professional and a lot pudgier. He has grown into an affecting balladeer, and surprised his fans with renditions of tunes by Sonny Boy Williamson and Elvis Presley, plus a verse and chorus of Stevie Wonder's "Master Blaster" in the middle of "Watching the Detectives."
