Costello okays anti-nazi rally

NME

Elvis Costello and The Attractions have now officially confirmed their appearance in the London carnival being staged on Sunday, September 24, by the Anti-Nazi League in conjunction with Rock Against Racism.

Sham 69, Aswad and Misty are already set for the event which takes place in Brockwell Park, Herne Hill (just south of Brixton, on the road to Crystal Palace).

Official approval has already been obtained for the concert — the organisers are working closely with the police, and Lambeth Council are investing £2,000 into the event which — weather permitting — could attract up to 100,000 people. The carnival starts with a rally at Hyde Park at 11am, before proceeding to Herne Hill for the afternoon rock show.
