Elvis Costello

War Memorial Gym , Vancouver

North Shore News

2018 recap by John Goodman:

Long before he became a West Vancouver resident, Elvis Costello and his band the Attractions played a show just after New Year’s at UBC’s War Memorial Gym. The Living Section ran an Ian Smith photo on the C section front noting "that there were some complaints about the sound system and the number of unfamiliar songs," but generally a good time was had by all.

2018 recap photo caption:

Elvis Costello and the Attractions played UBC's War Memorial Gym on Jan. 4, 1981. They opened with "Shot With His Own Gun" and played a 23-song, 90-minute set including many of the tracks off the then unreleased album Trust, which would come out later that month. They also did a cover of Patsy Cline's Hank Cochran tune "She's Got You" and closed with a four-song encore of "Oliver's Army," "Watching the Detectives," Sam & Dave's "I Can't Stand Up for Falling Down" and "Pump It Up." Squeeze opened. Tickets cost $9.
