A group of artists on the Stiff Records label, an integral part of Britain's exciting new-wave, go on the road next month, stopping off at High Wycombe Town Hall on the way.
Artists appearing on the tour are Elvis Costello, whose album and singles are doing deservedly well in the charts; Nick Lowe, renowned as a producer, and on the road with a new band for the first time; Ian Dury with another new band; Wreckless Eric; and Larry Wallis, who used to be a member of Motorhead.
The five acts will each play about 20 minutes, and the High Wycombe gig on October 3 is apparently going to be recorded for a special budget-priced album.
It all sounds like a great idea, and a fine way of promoting the Stiff artists who are, from what I've heard, talented and nicely unconventional.
