Costello approaches

RIT Reporter

Elvis Costello will be performing on April 20 in the Frank Ritter Memorial Arena. The concert will be opened by T-bone Burnett, and is being organized by the Collge Activities Board Concert Committee. The Director of the Concert Committer. David Lloyd described Costello as "critically beloved," stating that in his opinion, Costello is "destined for mass acceptance. despite his new wave label.

Costello's current 15 stop tour represents the first time in six years that he has appeared on a college campus. It is also his only appearance in upstate New York. He will be performing solo, without The Attractions, the group that played with Costello on eight of his nine albums and previously with him during all his tours. Lloyd stated, "The RIT community should not wait until the last minute to get tickets because we have sold over half already." He added that many of the tickets had been sold to those outside the Rochester area, including a number of Canadians. Tickets may he purchased at the RIT Candy Counter.
