Elvis heads Shoreline season's attractions

Peter Stack

Sounds promising — Shoreline Amphitheatre will open its season this year on May 7 with Elvis Costello and the Attractions, with whom he hasn't played since 1986.

The opening act will be Canada's hot Crash Test Dummies, who just wound up an SRO two-nighter at the Great American Music Hall this week, doing their hit "Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm." The Costello-Crash Test Dummies show moves to Concord Pavilion on May 8. Concord by then will have heard its opening show on May 7 — country acts Sawyer Brown, Diamond Rio and Brother Phelps, who hit Shoreline on May 8. ... Acts passing in the night.

Tickets for all of the above go on sale this Sunday at noon — notice the noon part because outlets are reserving the morning hours for Barbra Streisand. Read on.
