Elvis Costello and Nick Lowe, former cornerstones of the Stiff Records label, have been announced as first signings to the new Radar Records label.
Radar, recently formed by ex-United Artists staff Martin Davis and Andrew Lauder, have signed a longterm deal with Jake Riviera, co-founder of Stiff, and his Riviera Global Productions, to release Costello and Lowe material worldwide except countries with existing licensing rights via Riviera.
Costello and his band, The Attractions, are presently touring the US, where his My Aim Is True album entered the charts just two weeks after issue. They appear at London Nashville on December 22 - 24, with the Pop Group. Nick Lowe is renewing a relationship with Davis and Lauder started in 1970 when he signed to U.A. as a then member of Brinsley Schwarz.
Jake Riviera comments on the deal: "I'm so happy, and I think it will turn out quite nice for everyone." More signings are imminent.
