Rocker's revenge

Elvis Costello / Everyday I Write The Book

Bob Goldsmith

Nobody can milk a metaphor like E.C.: "You were up to your old tricks in chapters four, five and six" or "In a perfect world where everything is equal / I'd be working on the sequel". Took longer to sink in than any of the other 9000 Costello songs I've liked but that just means he's found another method of attack. If you're keeping track, this is more in the "New Amsterdam" line than in the "Party Party" or "You Little Fool" directions but probably that's no indicator of the forthcoming LP.
