On "10 Bloody Marys ..." and "The Man", Watching The Detectives is shown here as being a remix. To my ears, I cannot hear any difference to the standard version. Are we sure it is a remix? -- dpannell 16:08, 18 February 2007 (WDST Australia)

I was wondering about that too. I've never heard anything about a Watching The Detectives remix appearing on any compilation. --Nunki 11:45, 18 February 2007 (CST)

I am Japanese. English cannot be written well. I'm sorry. The original single mix of "Watching The Detectives" includes on "MY AIM IS TRUE" "THE BEST OF ELVIS COSTELLO&THE ATTRACTIONS" of the US Columbia release. The one that was the remix is collected to the compilations other than them. When two are compared, the mix of the drum that was the remix is a wider stereo. The keyboard comes near to a right channel, and the guitar comes near to the left. On the original, both are at the center, too. Moreover, Vorcal of the remix sounds another effect. As for an original keyboard, the reverberation or more is added. Thank You.

Thank you. That's very helpful. I guess the reason we couldn't tell the difference between the remix and the standard version is because the remix has become the standard version. The Ryko, Rhino, and even my Columbia CD of My Aim Is True have the remix, but my The Best Of Elvis Costello & The Attractions CD has the original mix.
(The Columbia My Aim Is True CD reportedly had a "secret" remaster at some point in the '80s though, so it's possible the original mix appears on some versions of that CD.) --Nunki 14:25, 1 September 2007 (CDT)

I found it. About mastering "MY AIM IS TRUE". MATRIX number = DIDP 20091 41A6 is original mixed. MATRIX number = 2A CK35037 11 B is a remix. I do not find other numbers. Moreover, "Mystery dance" is alternate version. (fade out or cut out)--Zarank 23:23, 13 September 2007 (GMT)
