Some pure pop for new people
from the Jesus of Cool

Bruce Rosenstein

Extract:

After several months of delays, Nick Lowe's first solo album is about to be released. In Britain, on Radar Records, it will be called The Jesus Of Cool, and in America, Columbia will call it Pure Pop For New People. The two versions differ in that the British release contains all new material, while America gets a live "Heart of the City," "So It Goes," and a couple of other tracks released in Britain. However, keeping in mind how these people have operated in the past, we shouldn't count on anything until the album jackets are in our hands, and the records on the turntable. Lowe appeared at the Columbia Records convention in New Orleans, playing with Elvis Costello's band.
