Elvis Costello to play one-man show in Swansea

The Grammy Award winner is heading to the Brangwyn Hall in July for a one night only gig

Elvis is back! One of the biggest names in British music is to play a special one-man show on July 11 at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea.

Elvis Costello started out in London's pub rock scene in the early 1970s and was linked to the first wave of the British Punk and New Wave movement. He hooked up with The Attractions as his backing band, but has performed largely as a solo artist since 1986.

He's best know for his hits Watching the Detectives, Oliver’s Army, (I Don’t Want to Go to) Chelsea, Accidents Will Happen, I Can't Stand Up for Falling Down, and Everyday I Write the Book.

The Swansea concert is promoted by Welsh company Orchard. Its director, Pablo Janczur, said: "Elvis Costello has global musical appeal, so we are excited that he has chosen the Brangwyn Hall for the start of a very small solo tour, where audiences can experience just Elvis and his guitar running through his long catalogue of hits. It should be a special night."

Tickets are available from tomorrow at www.orchardentertainment.co.uk and from the Brangwyn Hall box office on 01792 637300.
