The Brodsky Quartet is a renowned London-based classical ensemble. Costello is one of alternative rock’s greatest songwriters. You’d think their collaboration would be more interesting than it is. They get points for trying something different, but neither participant seems to be trying very hard. Don’t get me wrong, the writing and playing is as skillful as always, but rarely is it inspired.
