Pop musician Elvis Costello wil1 perform here on April 13, highlighting the annual Bronstein Weekend, Student Events officials announced last week.
Costello has had hit singles such as "Alison," "Don't Let Me be Misunderstood." and "Less Than Zero." His commercial peak occurred in the late 1970's. His most recent album, Spike, was released after a two year break from recording.
The cost of Costello's performance in Shapiro Gymnasium is $25,000, according to Student Events Director Jeff Heller '89. Ticket prices for the concert will be between $10 and $15, and will only be available to the Brandeis community, unless there is a difficulty selling tickets. Heller added that a decision has not yet been made as to when and where the tickets will go on sale.
Costello's appearance at Brandeis is part of his college tour of the Northeast. He will also perform at University of Vermont, University of Rhode Island, and University of New Hampshire. It will be his first U.S. concert tour in two years.
In past years, Howard Jones and The Hooters have performed over Bronstein Weekend, the traditional spring party weekend.
"I'm more excited than I can express about having an artist like Elvis come to campus," Heller said.
