40 years on .............................. A break of a day only after 3 nights flat out in New York City and the band seem to take a little breather and perform a more relaxed show in Rhode Island. "Just A Memory" opens the set and is a better song imho but maybe less melodramatic than "Shot With his Own Gun" but sits nicely as the opening introduction. The fourth song is a first time out appearance on this tour in "Stranger In The House" and the slightly less frenetic pace of the whole gig lends itself to this rather jaunty version which isn't by any means pure country but it does have a real swing to it. Steve and his honky tonk piano figures shine throughout this. "Motel Matches" appears two songs after this to further set the country mood and the third triumvirate is of course "He's Got You", still beautifully sung by Elvis with the rallentando at the end especially bringing out the drama of the lyrics. The power pop side isn't neglected however and both U.K. singles from "This Year's Model" appear in the form of "Chelsea" and "Radio, Radio" whilst the concluding portion of the main set has "Peace, Love And Understanding", "You Belong To Me" and "Big Sister's Clothes" all running straight after each other. The encore consists only of "Watching The Detectives" and "Pump It Up" and there's a lot of echo on Elvis' voice on the last verse of "Detectives". This is another fresh transfer from a first generation cassette and I had to tweak it up a notch to get it in pitch.
