Elvis Costello esiintyy syyskuussa Tampere-talossa

Erik Ahonen

Laulaja ja lauluntekijä Elvis Costello saapuu soolokeikalle Tampere-talon Isoon saliin 25. syyskuuta. Luvassa on kappaleita miehen koko mittavan uran varrelta.

Vuonna 1954 syntynyt Costello eli ristimänimeltään Declan Patrick Aloysius MacManus nousi maineeseen 1970-luvun lopulla uuden aallon myötä ja on sittemmin vakiinnuttanut asemansa yhtenä sukupolvensa arvostetuimmista lauluntekijöistä.

For The Stars -levyllä kaksikko tulkitsi muun muassa Beatlesin, Beach Boysin ja Abban kappaleita.

Painted From Memory -levy julkaistiin 1998.

Costellon tuorein levy, viime vuonna Blue Note -jazzmerkillä julkaistu Wise Up Ghost on puolestaan tehty hiphop-yhtye The Rootsin kanssa.

Läpimurtonsa Costello teki heti vuonna 1977 ilmestyneellä My Aim Is True -albumillaan, jolta suurimmaksi hitiksi nousi herkkä Alison. Hyvin muistettuja Costellon kappaleita ovat myös esimerkiksi Watching The Detectives, Oliver’s Army, She, What’s So Funny ’bout ja Everyday I Write The Book.

Lipunmyynti konserttiin alkaa 27. maaliskuuta.
