Hundreds of Elvis Costello fans in the North-east face disappointment after his Aberdeen concert next month was cancelled yesterday due to "unforeseen circumstances."
No reason has been given by London-based concert promoters Asgard Promotions for calling off the June 4 concert in Aberdeen's Music Hall.
There are no indications of any immediate plans for another Aberdeen gig.
Fans will receive a full re-fund for tickets for what was to have been a benefit concert for the Hillswick Wildlife Centre on Shetland following the Braer Oil incident.
A statement issued by Asgard Promotions yesterday said: "It is with great sadness that we have to announce that Elvis Costello is cancelling his appearance in Aberdeen. The reason we have been given by his office is that this is due to unforeseen circumstances."
His agent Paul Charles was not available for comment yesterday.
A spokesman for Aberdeen City Council said it had been informed of the cancellation late an Friday evening.
"We were informed it was to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances and instructed to refund the tickets. I can't say anything more than that." he said.
