Elvis Costello goes solo in Shetland

Press and Journal

Shetland Folk Festival organisers have confirmed that rock-superstar Elvis Costello, who has had major hit singles such as "Oliver's Army," "Good Year for the Roses" and "Watching the Detectives," will play on each of the three festival nights.

He will play solo acoustic sets.

Folk festival chairman Mr Malcolm Green said that Costello will be treated as normal and will have 40 minutes a night depending on who else is playing."

Other late additions to the festival — which runs from April 28 to May 1 — include Danny Kyle, Tich Fries, Davy Steele and the Dave Jackson Trio.

Tickets are expected to go on sale in about a fortnight, Mr Green said.

Artists already booked for the festival include Simon Nicol, the Albion Dance Band and Sean McGuire.
