Elvis Costello has given his personal approval to Kit Ashton's Brighton Festival Fringe event "So Like Costello."
The two songwriters met this week after Costello's appearance at the Barbican with the Brodsky Quartet.
During a brief chat Kit explained the event and described some of the artists involved, paying tribute to Mr.Costello's songwriting genius,and he was very happy to give the event his blessing — clearly a major boost to Kit's preparations for the show.
The house band (dubbed 'The Attractives' just for the night) are busy rehearsing, and the line up of top Brighton talent is still growing.
Confirmed guests now include:
Paul Steel, Stuart Flynn, Glen Richardson, Ralph Brown (yes, the actor!), Felicity Birch, Jordan Smith (Xcerts), and Kit Ashton himself.
The brilliant jazz pianist Mark Edwards will also make a guest appearance.
