Elvis Costello is, in my books, one of the best of the new wave artists to emerge from the UK.
And about time some class makes it on to the charts, good honest music. His songs, ("I Don't Want To Go To Chelsea" and "Watching the Detectives"), which are on this one, have found their place in US and Australian charts.
When I first saw a photo of Elvis Costello early last year, I thought, who is this zany character, is he trying to cash in on Presley, or what? A sour impression indeed, but it wasn't till I heard his music, played constantly by Maree, an avid Costello fan, on 2XX, that I was unavoidably attracted and stimulated by this romantic rock 'n' roller.
