Elvis Costello seeks smaller stage
and finds McGaw Hall

David Silverman

Elvis Costello, tired of the excesses and mayhem of stadium concerts, has set his sights on smaller, more intimate college campus venues for his latest solo tour.

So instead of the Horizon or the UIC Pavilion, Northwestem's McGaw Hall in Evanston will host Costello on Friday night. Nick Lowe, who doubles as Costello's producer, is the opening act.

Making his first stop in the city in several years, Costello will be toting his prolific catalogue as well as the 14 new songs from his latest LP, Spike, during an all-acoustic evening.
