Lyrics

CHIEF OF POLICE
Your punishment took another face
she escaped straight away
to Tokyo
to save her reputation
now you're gonna feel
feel a burning pain
a burning burning burning pain
burning pain
you're gonna feel a more burning pain
artists are vain
artists are vain

DIONYSOS
It's true
I lose my faith in life
life is vain
and vain
is any struggle

In the sky the clouds are raging. The Ghosts of the Opera are floating in the air above Dionysos.

despair if it's the final word
oh my friend,
help me
I feel murdered

The sound of his friend's trumpet can be heard. He has come back to stand by his friend Dionysos. Around them, the ghosts seem to find all this very pleasant.

THE FRIEND
Who wins
if everything is lost
raise your head
and face
a new tomorrow

BUTTERFLY, CARMEN AND NORMA
Our strong-minded
Dionysos
our favourite go-between
is defeated
do we kill him?
do we help?
do we not?
is she worth him?
how to end all of this?

CHIEF OF POLICE
A brutal clash

DIONYSOS
A promise of bliss

OPERA SINGER
(from afar)
It's not my will, it's just the wind

THE FRIEND
Remember what you always say
born to die, but another day

BUTTERFLY, CARMEN AND NORMA
Insipid or cruel?
commercial or radical?

With one single gesture Norma dispels the clouds. Carmen and Butterfly stop the wind. The Opera Singer appears with her suitcase in one hand. The Chief of Police sees her first. Dionysos is broken by pain. He collapses on the bench and hides his face in his hands.

CHIEF OF POLICE
Far she wanted to go
is he right after all?
zephyr and sirocco
tempest and thunderstorms
nothing is clear with them
coincidence or whim?

Dionysos raises his head and sees the Opera Singer. He stands up.

OPERA SINGER
Far I wanted to go
is it an oracle?

CHIEF OF POLICE
Should I be humble?

OPERA SINGER
Zephyr and sirocco
tempest and thunderstorm

CHIEF OF POLICE
My mind is doubtful

OPERA SINGER
Something is told to me
gods of the opera?

DIONYSOS
Far you wanted to go
what is this miracle?

CHIEF OF POLICE
It's crucial to know

DIONYSOS
Zephyr and sirocco
tempests and thunderstorms

OPERA SINGER, DIONYSOS AND CHIEF OF POLICE
Something is told to us
ghosts of the opera

Dionysos comes closer to the Opera Singer.
