All this useless beauty (Toda esa inútil belleza).

Desde entonces ha editado 17 más, entre otros: This year's model, Armed Forces, Get happy, Imperial bedroom, King of America, Blood and chocolate, Spike, Mighty like a rose, Brutal youth y Kojak variety.

Madrid Elvis Costello, one of the biggest stars in contemporary pop, is back with his group in the early days, the Attractions, to record his latest album, All this useless beauty.

After presenting the Saturday night in Madrid and Murcia town San Javier, he brings to Barcelona last show of his Spanish mini-tour tomorrow (Horta Velodrome from 11 at night) within the program of the Summer Festival Grec-96.

"The beauty is worth little considered ", Costello says to justify the title of a disc "Difficult to define and tell stories in which I've written looking into and they are pretty far from the language that prevails in international pop ".

This new album has nothing to do with the above, Kojack variety. Now return to your usual group, The Attractions. "They've all evolved on their own, working with different musicians and doing different types of music. But we are the same as 15 years ago, but older and more experienced, yes".

One of the themes of the new album suggests the possibility? Disappear ?. Costello clarifies that is not enough of anything, but sometimes you would like? Away from it all, be free ?, convinced notes. ? That is the sense in which I speak of disappearing. Sometimes I think that I know everything and do not really know anything. That's the problem ?.

Costello refuses to define the style of her new album. ? Definitions do not like me? Says openly? because they reflect the style of anything ?. His albums have been identified with many styles. He has written over 300 songs that have been recorded by artists or versioned category of Chet Baker, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Roger McGuinn, Charles Brown and George Jones, among others. He has also collaborated with former Beatle Paul McCartney.

He recently worked with Brian Eno in recording a theme for the television series The X-Files This is My dark life, and ensures that? Has all the mystery of the themes of this record that just take to the streets? . The collaboration with Eno was? Fun. I offered her about nine verses and lots of ideas for melodies and he used only three words and a single note tone ranging. He got the result we wanted ?. mystery

In the last three or four years, Costello has frequently visited Spain. The last time rode a tour? Small towns of Castile, and I especially liked that I was able to make a relaxed tour, enjoying the journey.

"One of the worst things in the music business is that you never have time to enjoy anything", he concludes.

Elvis Costello. The musician has made a mini-tour that has taken him Spain before Madrid and Murcia.

AUGUSTINE CATALÁN Kiko Veneno opening act will be a luxury for the British artist JORDI SUBIRANA Barcelona E Costello has lvis tomorrow night Kiko Veneno (21.30)? Repeat performance after its success last year in Poble Espanyol to burst? opening act for a real treat. One of those artists that fill every corner of the country. Poison warrants show. Your potion is magical.

And no wonder, because its rhythms, halfway between rumba and rock, peppered with catchy lyrics and coreables? Already part of popular song ?, engage and invite the dancing, which ultimately is what calls for the people you will see.

This Seville, born in Figueres and named José María López, success came in 1992 with Take a deep cantecito.

It resonated with people, a little late if you consider that in 1977 launched Kiko Veneno excellent? ?, Its first proposal with a good dose of wit and lighthearted verses full of talent and taste.

From there, the road is paved. Everything was easier. The consecration came last year's all very well of affection, a job that walked with a scenario designed by Javier Mariscal, full of naturalness and uplifting phrases. Among other gems, the album contains the right and rhythmic Memphis blues again, a song by Bob Dylan that Kiko has endorsed. For sure, this and other of his classic no shortage morning at the Velodrome.

Elvis Costello: Beauty is underrated? The singer, one of the great pop brings? All this useless beauty? the Velodrome RACE A self-taught various styles dominating Declan Macmanus (Elvis Costello) is a self-taught British composer who mastered a variety of styles.
