De toer die Elvis Costello in Engeland aan het afwerken is, komt ernstig in gevaar. Bassist Bruce Thomas had het ongeluk om in een kleedkamer in Manchester een hand zodanig te verwondern aan een gebroken fles, dat hij in allerijl naar het ziekenhaus getransporteerd moest worden en daar met 18 hechtingen weer uit kwam. Daar kun je geen bas mee spelen, dat is bekend. Nick Lowe was zo aardig om voor twee optredens als vervanger van Thomas op te treden, maar het is op dit moment nog niet zeker of hij daarmee zal kunnen blijven doorgaan: hij heeft andere verplichtingen.
