Image title	From LWT THE SOUTH BANK SHOW - ELVIS COSTELLO and ANNE SOFIE VON OTTER on Sunday 18 March 2001 2001 will see the release of a truley remarkable album, For The Stars, the result of a unique partnership between two legendary artists from radically different backgrounds. This edition of THE SOUTH BANK SHOW explores the collaoboration between Elvis Costello and the Swedish mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie Von Otter. The result of twenty popular songs by artists such as Nina Simone (The Other Woman), Paul McCartney (Junk), Tom Waits (Take It With Me) and Abba (Like an Angel Passing Through My Room). Elvis was introduced to Anne Sofie by his wife in the late 80's. Using interviews, exclusive footage of the album's recording process and rare archive material, this film will explore the coming together of two very different but equally gifted artists. The rehearsals and recording of For The Stars, filmed in Stockholm's famed Atlantis Studio, form the basis of the film. There's a new composition by Elvis, No Wonder, written specifically for Anne Sofie and Abba's Benny Andersson from Abba also joins th pair at the studio (where the piano from Dancing Queen still has pride of place). The film also features Anne Sofie's recent acclaimed performance of Berlioz's Death of Cleopatra at the Royal Festival Hall (conducted by Sir Simon Rattle), and Costello and von Otter's debut live performance of their new album in Vienna in February.
