The new Wave engulfed Glassboro October 29 immersing the homecoming concert crowd in an ocean of punk rock. Blondie, David Johansen and Moon Martin were the big fish making waves.
Onstage, Debbie Harry, the sultry bleach blonde lead singer of Blondie, clad in a multi colored skin tight mini skirt and shocking pink stockings, sang, shrieked and swooned seductively while the boys in the band belted out pulsating sounds. Some came in standard punk garb, black lipstick smeared on ghoulish white face, leopard skin skirt torn strategically for maximum effect, black leather jackets draped with chains, shades for vacant eyes.
Johansen, the old New York Doll, electrified with high energized rock, beautiful ballads and some old Motown tunes. Elvis Costello plugged in onstage for a rousing version of the Dolls "Personality Crisis." What a treat.
Moon Martin knows how to rock out too, and he did, getting the place all revved up and ready to blast off to roll heaven.
