Telarc has also released Labour Of Love — The Music of Nick Lowe, which includes contributions from blues artists Joe Louis Walker, Charlie Musselwhite and Guy Davis; rockabilly legend Sleepy La Beef, modern zydeco practitioner C.J Chenier, and various pop musicians including Elvis Costello and Marshall Crenshaw. Costello and Crenshaw predictably turn in credible performances of two of the longtime pop singer / songwriter's songs but the genre artists not surprisingly sound out of place in most instances. However, this seems to be of little importance to the producers of the rapidly growing stack of tribute discs piling up these days.
