Musique A l'Ancienne Belgique Un Elvis Costello intransigeant

Thierry Coljon

Translation from French via Google Translate:

Music At Ancienne Belgique An uncompromising Elvis Costello

Thierry Coljon

It was a long time since Elvis Costello appeared in Brussels, often preferring the Flemish land of festival goers. For an agoraphobic who had not been at the recent Marktrock festival in Leuven, Master MacManus offered Sunday at the Ancienne Belgique, a follow-up session. In a room full arch in Flemish majority.

Surrounded by three Imposters very Attractions, Elvis did not have a bust of Beethoven as a backdrop for nothing: it was great music that you would hear tonight. And those who had come straying in Brussels to hear a "best of" Costello's joyful works would regret the move.

If the sympathetic spectacle-wearer did not fail to leave a good word between songs, his repertoire was more austere. If not monotonous, in the words of a witness who preferred the bar even before the end of the concert.

We of course enjoyed the guitar playing of the English singer, as well as the striking force of his Imposters. And then return it to its very rock'n'roll or punk beginnings, is rather pleasing to the image of his "Watching the detectives" but after an hour, it starts to do well, the fight . But hey, if the pleasure was not at the rendezvous, we salute all the same sound understanding of a great artist preferring intransigence ease in these times of anything ...

In the first part, the New Yorker Ron Sexsmith, one guitar, told his sad love stories. This chubby boy, too quickly out of childhood, art we believe ... ·
